Hyssop, Ginger and Licorice are traditionally used in Herbal Medicine as expectorants to help relieve excess mucous of the respiratory passages and coughs due to colds. Elder, Yarrow and Safflower are used in Herbal Medicine to promote sweating, to help relieve fever.
Suggested Use: Adults: Drink 1 cup 4 times daily.
Directions of use: Pour 240 mL boiling water over 1 tea bag in a cup and steep, covered, for 10-15 minutes. Gently squeeze the tea bag to release any remaining extract.
Duration of use: Consult a healthcare practitioner for use beyond 4-6 weeks.
Cautions: Consult a health care practitioner if symptoms persist and prior to use if you have a liver disorder, anaemia, or gallstones.
Contraindications: Do not use if: you are taking thiazide diuretics, cardiac glycosides, corticosteroids, stimulant laxatives or other medications which may aggravate electrolyte imbalance; if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, if you have hypokalemia, high blood pressure, a kidney or cardiovascular disorder, diabetes or edema; if you have a bleeding disorder, or taking anticoagulant medications, or if you have peptic ulcers. Stop use and seek medical attention immediately if you experience dizziness, confusion, muscle weakness or pain, abnormal heart beat and/or difficulty breathing.
Known Adverse Reactions: Discontinue use if: hypersensitivity (e.g. allergy) occurs or in cases of gastrointestinal upsets (abdominal cramps, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea). Diuretic effect may occur. Do not use if you are allergic to plants of the Asteraceae/Compositae/Daisy family.
